For this project I was given a random book by a random classmate and had to create the book cover without seeing the original design. The book I was given was called "The Girl on the Train", which is a modern murder mystery filled with abuse, addiction, lust, jealously, and the passion for justice. I chose to use a contemporary design style for this project.
Design Strategy (Front and Back Cover):
-High contrast colors to grab attention
-Red to symbolize blood, anger, and murder
-Black to symbolize mystery
-White as a good contrasting color
-Modern train iconography with the rail dripping blood onto the title
-Dystopian font (NEXUS)
-Blood dripping continued on back of book
Design Strategy (Inside):
-Continued use of black and red in chapter titles, chapter icon, and page numbers
